Building Pilafs

Unending Variations

Class Description

Pilaf is a versatile cooking method most often associated with rice, but it extends far beyond it. In this class, you’ll learn which types of rice and alternative grains work best for pilafs, how to build flavor from the very first step, and the proper sequence that creates dishes that are aromatic, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. Once you understand the pilaf method, it becomes a foundation you can adapt across cuisines - Middle Eastern, Indian, Mexican, Greek, and beyond. By changing aromatics, spices, liquids, and finishing elements, the same technique can yield entirely different dishes. Pilafs can be as simple as a flavorful side dish or easily expanded into a complete meal with the addition of vegetables, legumes, or proteins. Learning this method gives you the confidence to move beyond recipes, improvise with what you have, and make each pilaf distinctly your own.
